Under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position is integral to ensuring patient safety, enhancing comfort, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to monitor and communicate changes in patient status. Key responsibilities encompass managing patient care based on clinical assessments, supporting admissions and discharges, performing basic wound care and dressing changes, conducting blood glucose monitoring, initiating intravenous access, and operating EKG equipment. The technician also provides assistance with enteral feedings, catheter care, and various therapeutic interventions under appropriate supervision. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment, mentoring junior staff members, participating in patient rounds, responding promptly to alarms, and adhering to established safety protocols to optimize patient outcomes and facilitate efficient care delivery. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.



Work Experience

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate for the Patient Care Technician II position must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships, and a strong commitment to teamwork are required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, manage multiple responsibilities in high-pressure environments, and possess proficiency in computer systems. Furthermore, the candidate should exhibit competency in obtaining accurate blood glucose measurements, perform delegated nursing duties with sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients, and maintain thorough knowledge and accountability in aseptic techniques.
