Job Description
The Associate Director will serve as the technical authorityfor Observability and Event Management. Lead the technology strategy, engineering, and operational excellence of the enterprises monitoring, telemetry, and event lifecycle capabilities. This roleensuresour platforms, applications, and infrastructure are measurable,predictable,and resilient enabling proactive detection, automated remediation, and data-driven engineering decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Own the observability strategy across logs, metrics, traces,events,and digital experience monitoring.
- Positionobservability as an enterprise service with clear service definitions, support models, standards, and adoption expectations.
- Influence thearchitecture and lead the engineeringportionof modern telemetry pipelines:OpenTelemetry, distribution tracing, logaggregation,and metrics platforms.
- Lead the technologyportionfor Event Management, including event detection, correlation, enrichment, noisereduction,and automated response.
- Support and implement AIOps capabilities to improve signal-to-noise ratio, reduce toil, and accelerate root-cause identification.
- Drive automation-first approaches for alerting, remediation, and event routing.
- Partner with architects,platform,and cloud engineering teams, to ensure observability and monitoring coverage are embedded into new and existing services, applications,infrastructure,and platforms.
- Lead tool selection, roadmap, and vendor management for observability and event platforms.
- Lead and develop a team responsible for enterprise observability services, including coaching, performance management, prioritization of team capacity, skills development, and alignment of team execution to enterprise technology priorities.
- Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture towards proactive reliability and data-driven operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Administration with 9years experience OR Masters Degreewith 8years experience OR PhD with 4years experience
- Deepexpertisein observability/monitoring platforms: Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, or SolarWinds
- Strong understanding ofOpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and telemetry standards
- Hands-on experience with event correlation, AIOps and automation frameworks
- DemonstratedproficiencyofITIL Event Management, Incident Management and Operations Control
- Proven ability to translate telemetry into insights for engineering and leadership
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business audiences
- Capacity to make well-informed andtimelydecisions in a fast-paced environment
- Thoroughunderstanding of customer needs and the ability to translate them intoroadmap product/service offerings
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and needs from various stakeholders
