A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The Medical Scribe assists the physician in the clinical setting by observing and transcribing medical information during patient encounters and supporting the documentation process, during and after the patient care visit.

  • Transcribes history and other relevant medical information, recorded by patient, into electronic medical record
  • Reviews and reconcile patient's medication and allergy list as recorded by patient
  • Accurately documents patient encounter based on physician's verbal dictation
  • Performs a range of clerical tasks such including encounter reconciliation and informing physician if pertinent information is missing from documentation i.e., transcription, history information, and review of systems
  • Responsible for maintaining physician to physician written communication, including corrections as requested, review, mailing and faxing the final draft in a timely manner to the correct addressee
  • May perform additional front office or back office responsibilities as needed such as appointment scheduling and rooming patients

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certification by the American Association for Medical Transcription preferred

Experience

  • 6 months Experience as a Medical Scribe or related experience and/or training, or equivalent of related education and experience preferred required
