Nurse Manager Emergency Department
Location: UM Charles Regional Medical Center La Plata, MD
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift Leadership Position
Join a high-performing Emergency Department and lead a dedicated team in one of the busiest EDs within the University of Maryland Medical System. As the only hospital serving Charles County, our 44-bed Emergency Department, along with 12 vertical treatment/results waiting spaces, supports approximately 51,000 patient visits annually and ranks as the 4th busiest ED among 13 UMMS hospitals across Maryland.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about leading teams, driving quality outcomes, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

- Proven leadership experience in an Emergency Department setting with the ability to effectively manage a 24/7 operation.
- Strong organizational skills with expertise in staffing, scheduling, workflow management, and operational oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, mentor, develop, and hold staff accountable while building a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Confidence and emotional intelligence to navigate difficult conversations related to performance management, patient care standards, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance, patient safety, and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
- Strong critical thinking, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with visible, hands-on clinical leadership.
Work Experience
Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred
- 5 years of nurse management experience in an Emergency Department setting preferred.
- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Proven track record of motivating, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Passion for operational excellence, leadership growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compensation:
- Pay Range:$54.42 - $81.64/hr
- Other Compensation (if applicable): MIP Bonus-Eligible
