Massachusetts WIC in Massachusetts

Massachusetts WIC is run by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, WIC Nutrition Program. WIC serves women who are pregnant, women up to six months after a pregnancy ends, women breastfeeding up to a year after giving birth, infants, and children until their fifth birthday. You must live in Massachusetts, have a nutrition or health need that WIC staff check at your appointment, and have household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines: about $50,540 a year for a household of three under the 2026 guidelines (our arithmetic; USDA publishes the official table). If anyone in your family gets SNAP, TANF or Medicaid, you meet the income test automatically.

From October 2026 through September 2027, WIC's monthly fruit and vegetable benefit is $27 for each child, $48 during pregnancy and after, and $53 while breastfeeding, on top of WIC's other foods.

Apply online at www.mass.gov/forms/apply-for-wic-online, or by the other ways the state lists on its program page. For help, call 1-800-942-1007.

Federal rules say WIC must tell pregnant applicants whether they qualify within 10 days, and other applicants within 20 days, unless the local clinic is at its limit.

In Massachusetts you are automatically income eligible for WIC if you receive SNAP, TAFDC cash assistance, or certain MassHealth plans, including Standard, CarePlus and Limited. Every one of the 31 local WIC clinics offers Mother to Mother peer counselors, moms trained in breastfeeding support who have breastfed their own babies. Your WIC card also brings free or discounted admission to museums and cultural sites through the WIC Card to Culture program.
