988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

988 is the US three-digit phone number and text shortcut for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Calls and texts to 988 route to a network of crisis centers staffed by trained counselors. The service is free, confidential, and available 24/7. Spanish-language and TTY/TDD options are available.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988. Black-specific crisis support is available through the BLACK Emotional and Mental Health (BEAM) Collective's resource line, Crisis Text Line (text 'STEVE' to 741741 for Black-affirming support), and many state-specific Black-clinician crisis lines.
