Prince George's is the nation's largest majority-Black county where Black residents earn the nation's highest median household income for any majority-Black county, roughly $90,000, and are the most formally educated Black population in the United States. Even so, the county records some of the state's worst Black maternal mortality and stroke mortality figures, demonstrating that Black health disparities persist across income and education.

University of Maryland Capital Region Health (the former Prince George's Hospital Center) opened a new facility in 2021; the county partnered with the University of Maryland Medical System to bring level-II trauma services back to Largo. MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital and Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington round out the inpatient footprint.
