Black Women's Health

Last reviewed:

Black women in the United States face the widest maternal mortality gap in the high-income world. In 2023, the Black non-Hispanic maternal mortality rate was 50.3 per 100,000 live births compared with 14.5 for white non-Hispanic women, per the CDC NCHS brief by Hoyert, February 2025. Cardiovascular disease, fibroids, mental health conditions, and the structural conditions that shape all of them layer on top of that gap.

This pillar gathers the guides that matter most for Black women and birthing people navigating care. Each guide names the evidence, cites the primary source, and ends with a specific question to bring to your clinician or a specific resource to use.
