Black women in the United States face the widest maternal mortality gap in the high-income world. In 2023, the Black non-Hispanic maternal mortality rate was 50.3 per 100,000 live births compared with 14.5 for white non-Hispanic women, per the CDC NCHS brief by Hoyert, February 2025.
