Why a Black provider matters
Racial concordance is one of the most robust findings in healthcare disparities research. A 2020 PNAS study of Florida hospitals found Black newborns are half as likely to die when cared for by Black physicians. In the American Economic Review (Alsan et al., 2019), Black men randomly assigned to a Black primary care doctor accepted 49 percent more preventive services. Every provider listed here is reviewed before going live, claimed by the provider or submitted by the community, so you can build a care team you trust.
