NHSC Rural Community Loan Repayment Program
Up to $105,000 over 3 years for SUD clinicians at NHSC-approved rural SUD treatment facilities. Highest-dollar NHSC program but the most restrictive eligibility: site must be both NHSC-approved SUD and rural.
HRSA/NHSC with Federal Office of Rural Health Policy
Award
Up to $100,000 full-time or $50,000 half-time plus a one-time $5,000 enhancement (total $105,000 FT or $55,000 HT) for 3 years of service at a rural NHSC-approved SUD treatment facility.

- →Award preference for MOUD prescribers
Eligible employer types
HPSA requirement
Site must be NHSC-approved SUD facility AND rural per the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy definition (RUCA codes). HPSA score is not the primary criterion.

FY2026 deadline: March 31, 2026, 7:30 p.m. ET.

Same concurrent-eligibility rules as NHSC LRP and SUD LRP.
Tax treatment
Federally tax-exempt under IRC §108(f)(4).
Common pitfalls
- !Highest dollar NHSC program but the narrowest site pool. The facility must be both NHSC-approved SUD AND rural.
- !3-year commitment.
