A free weekly yoga class designed for Black women at all levels. Trauma-informed, body-affirming, led by a Black woman yoga instructor. All bodies welcome.

About this event

This is yoga for rest, not performance.

Led by certified yoga instructor Shayla Okonkwo (RYT-500), this weekly class is designed specifically for Black women. Meeting you where you are, at any fitness level, any body size, any age.

Class features:
- Trauma-informed, gentle flow (no prior yoga experience needed)
- Body-affirming cues (no comments on weight or appearance)
- Modifications for all fitness levels and physical limitations
- Optional brief meditation and breathwork at the close
- Mats provided (or bring your own)

Donations welcome but never required. No one is turned away.

Rooted & Rising is a Black woman-owned wellness studio offering culturally affirming yoga, meditation, and breathwork for the Black community in the Research Triangle.
