Black men are 70 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer and twice as likely to die from it than white men (American Cancer Society, 2024). Kidney stones also affect Black adults more severely, and Black men face higher rates of erectile dysfunction tied to cardiovascular disease. Urologists manage prostate, bladder, kidney, and male reproductive conditions.

A 2023 JAMA Oncology study found Black men referred to a Black urologist were more likely to receive guideline-concordant prostate cancer treatment.
