Weight management / GLP-1 review

Found review for Black patients (2026)

4.0/5

Found is the most comprehensive weight-management telehealth, bundling clinician + coach + GLP-1 access at a higher monthly cost than Hims Weight Loss. Worth it if behavior change is the bottleneck, not the prescription.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Bundles clinician + registered dietitian + behavior coach + medication management on one platform.
  • Behavior-change scaffolding is the structural advantage: weekly check-ins, food logging, sleep and stress integration.
  • Wider medication menu than Hims: GLP-1 agonists, metformin, bupropion-naltrexone, phentermine where appropriate.
  • Care-team coordination means one clinical team sees your full picture, not separate prescribers and coaches.

Cons

  • Higher total monthly cost than Hims Weight Loss when medication is included.
  • Program fee is self-pay only, even if your insurance covers the medication.
  • Same regulatory exposure on compounded semaglutide as Hims and other compounded-GLP-1 services.
  • Does not surface Black-clinician filter at intake.

Pricing and coverage

Pricing
$99-$199/month for the program; medication separate ($199-$1,800/month depending on compounded vs branded).
Insurance
Accepts commercial insurance
Notes
Some commercial insurance accepted for branded GLP-1 medications. The program fee is self-pay only and not insurance-covered. Medicaid is not accepted for either the program or medication.

The behavior-change thesis

GLP-1 medications produce 15-20% weight loss in clinical trials, but real-world durability is limited by what happens when patients stop taking them. The STEP 4 trial showed two-thirds of weight regained within a year of discontinuation. The clinical implication is that GLP-1 works best when paired with sustained behavior change so that post-medication patients have new defaults to fall back on.

Found is built around this thesis. The program bundles clinician + dietitian + behavior coach with medication access. Weekly check-ins track food logs, sleep, stress, and weight trajectory. For patients whose bottleneck is behavior change rather than medication access alone, Found is the right service.

The cost trade-off

Total monthly cost runs $300-$400 (program + compounded semaglutide) versus $199 at Hims Weight Loss for medication alone. The extra $100-200/month buys behavior-change support, dietitian consults, and care-team coordination. Whether that is worth it depends on whether you would otherwise pay for these separately or skip them.

Who it does not fit

If your bottleneck is access to GLP-1 medication and you already have the behavior support you need (in-person dietitian, gym, or existing care team), Found's program fee is overhead you do not need. Hims Weight Loss is the cheaper path. Found's value is in the bundled support, not the prescription itself.

Our methodology

Evaluated against Hims Weight Loss, Calibrate, Form Health, and Sesame Care on program comprehensiveness, behavior-change support, medication menu breadth, and cost for Black patients. October 2026.
