Questions

How much will it cost?

Two parts: the BlackHealth Weight Care membership, and the medicine itself. We will announce the membership price when we open. The current medicine prices, each with its source and the date we read it, are on the pricing page. What you pay for the medicine depends on whether you pay yourself, use insurance or qualify for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge.

Does insurance cover it?

Sometimes. Coverage depends on your plan's drug list and its rules. When we open, if your clinician prescribes a medicine your plan may cover, the care team will help with the prior authorization paperwork. We cannot promise coverage, and your plan makes that decision.

What is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?

A Medicare program that sets a $50 a month copay for Wegovy, Foundayo and the Zepbound KwikPen for eligible Part D members, from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. Eligibility is set by Medicare, and the pricing page links the official CMS page we read it from.

Does Medicaid cover these medicines?

It varies by state, and some states cover weight-loss medicines while others do not. Your state Medicaid agency can confirm what your plan covers today.

What happens if treatment is not right for me?

A licensed clinician will decide whether treatment is appropriate, and sometimes the answer will be no.

When will Weight Care open?

We are opening state by state, and we have not set dates. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it opens where you live. To leave the waitlist at any time, email hello@blackhealth.org and we will remove you.

What does BlackHealth see about my health?

On the waitlist: your email address, your state and how you are covered, plus a record of what you agreed to and when. Nothing medical. When we open, your health questions, visits and prescriptions will stay with the clinical partner and its clinicians, and BlackHealth will see only what we need to run the program, such as your state and your membership status.

Will you offer compounded GLP-1s?

No. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. We will not offer them as a substitute for approved medicines. The FDA explains its concerns on its own page, linked on the treatments page.

Who will prescribe?

Licensed physicians and nurse practitioners in your state, working through a clinical partner we will name before we open. BlackHealth will not prescribe, and the clinician will decide whether a medicine is appropriate for you.

BlackHealth Weight Care is opening soon. When it opens, medical care will be provided by independent licensed clinicians through a clinical partner.
